FRANCINE HAILMAN: This talented North Toronto jazz singer has just released a fine debut CD, Love Is Here. It will be launched with a Feb. 10 performance at Chalker’s (247 Marlee Ave). The fact that this is just prior to Valentine’s Day is fitting, given the record’s explorations of different facets of love. Hailman

wrote half of the 16 compositions, and her songs match up well with versions of classics from the likes of GERSHWIN, LIEBER AND STOLLER, and HOAGY CARMICHAEL. She is accompanied by such top Toronto players as TONY QUARRINGTON (who produced the album), ROBI BOTOS, NICK FRASER, and DENNIS KELDIE, some of whom will also play the gig. Hailman also has a residency at Thornhill’s Ferraro 502 North (Feb. 17, March 3, 17 and 31). Go to www.francinehailman.com.
